Yasuko Mogi (茂木 康子 mogi yasuko?, born on January 27, 1969(1969-01-27)) is a Japanese female mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. Her nicknames are Pioneer of women's Jiu-Jitsu world (女子柔術界のパイオニア joshi jū jutsu kai no paionia?)[1] and Pink Spider (ピンクスパイダー pinku supaidā?).[2]

Mogi has participated in MMA promotions Smackgirl, Shooto and Valkyrie. She also works as Valkyrie's producer (matchmaker).[1][3][4][5]

Background

Mogi was born on January 27, 1969(1969-01-27) in Nerima, Tokyo, Japan.[6][7]

Mixed martial arts career

Mogi made her professional debut in MMA on April 29, 2005 (2005-04-29) at Smackgirl-F 2005: I'll do it this year! Smack F Festival during The Next Cinderella Tournament 2005 part, submitting Gravure idol, actress, and tarento Ai Fukaya with an armbar.[8][9]

On July 12, 2005 (2005-07-12), Mogi debuted with promotion Shooto in the event G-Shooto Plus 02, defeating Masako Yoshida by unanimous decision.[10][11]

Returning to Smackgirl in the event Smackgirl 2005: Lightweight Anniversary, Mogi suffered her first defeat at the hands of kickboxing specialist Hisae Watanabe via TKO (punches) on November 29, 2005 (2005-11-29).[12][13][14]

Mogi was defeated by Taeko Nagamine via split decision at Smackgirl 2006: Queen's Triumphant Return on April 22, 2006 (2006-04-22).[15][16]

Mogi got her third straight loss on March 11, 2007 (2007-03-11) at Smackgirl: The Next Cinderella Tournament 2007 First Stage, where she was defeated by Akiko Naito in another split decision.[17][18]

On June 26, 2008 (2008-06-26), Mogi defeated Ayumi Takeuchi by submission (rear naked choke) at Shooto 6/26 in Kitazawa Town Hall.[19][20]

In a rematch of their 2005 bout, Mogi fought against Masako Yoshida at Shooto Spirit 2009, losing for the third time by split decision on May 24, 2009 (2009-05-24).[21][22]

Debuting as a fighter in Valkyrie, Mogi was defeated by TKO (punches) by Misaki Takimoto at Valkyrie 03 on October 24, 2009 (2009-10-24).[23][24][25]

On April 11, 2010 (2010-04-11) at Valkyrie 05, Mogi was defeated by Akiko Naito once again, this time by unanimous decision.[26][27]

Submission grappling career

Mogi debuted in submission grappling in 1998 in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament.[5]
